The Biofarm Garden has set the following short- and long-term goals:
- Implemention and demonstration of the sustainable and self-sufficient cultivation methods of spices/herbs and vegetables. The BioFarm model garden is providing great opportunity for the education of children, adults and agricultural producers as well and for organization of regional community programs for encouraging sustainable and organic farming practices.
- Organization of a summer residentialeco riding camp (children and adults and families together) in cooperation with the Biofarm Horse Ranch, combined with active participation of children in the care of the Biofarm Garden.
- Developing and maintaining active and effective cooperation with local and regional municipalities and kindergartens/primary schools. Organization of children's camps in order to continuously introduce the BioFarm farming concept. Organization of autumn residential school bio-camps.
- Organization of BioPhosphate professional programs (thematic workshop days) for adults: deepening environmental awareness, supporting circular - sustainable farming to ensure self-sufficiency (urban gardening).
- Introducing the results of the European Union research and development programs of the BioPhosphate agricultural and food industry by-products circular recycling programs to a wide audience in Hungarian and English.
- Organization of a conference connected with the autumn seed exchange in the Biofarm's own conference room.
- Organization of a conference connected with the spring seedling exchange every year in Biofarm's own conference room.
Parts of the Biofarm model garden
The BioFarm model garden consists of 5 parts:
- Compost prism for providing a circular and self-sustaining nutrient supply.
- Greenhouse cultivation: self-sustaining bio-seedling cultivation in a foil tent heated by a solar panel.
- Raised beds cultivation for self-sustaining environmentally friendly organic vegetable production in controlled condition.
- Open field cultivation area for self-sustaining environmentally friendly open-field organic vegetable production.
- Spice and herb spiral: self-sustaining environmentally friendly spice and herb production.
